Plot

As the national financial crisis looms over South Korea, Si-hyun (Kim Hye-su), an insightful monetary policy manager at the Bank of Korea, foresees the impending economic catastrophe. Her attempts to alert the Director and call for a public warning fall on deaf ears, her plea lost in the echoing chambers of bureaucracy. A clandestine summit is scheduled ten days later, the public kept in the dark about the approaching storm. Simultaneously, financial consultant Jung-hak (Yoo Ah-In) observes the sudden exodus of foreign funds from Korea. Unraveling the truth, he discovers that global finance firms have triggered an investment withdrawal, causing Korea's credit rating to nosedive. Seeing the writing on the wall, he resigns, opting to gamble on the inevitable crisis. Covertly, he begins assembling a coalition of investors willing to brave the turbulent financial waters. Gap-su (Joon-ho Huh), an everyday family man and owner of a humble tableware factory, celebrates a contract with a department store, oblivious to the financial turmoil swirling around him. Despite the contract's payment terms amounting to little more than a promissory note, Gap-su, lost in his victory, signs on the dotted line. Just a week before the country's economic collapse, the Managing Director of the IMF (Vincent Cassel) arrives in Korea. As the nation teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, the lives of those trying to mitigate the crisis, those exploiting it, and those simply striving to protect their livelihood, intertwine in an epic saga of survival.
