Deathtrap (1982)

In the chilling depths of Sidney's creative drought, a glimmer of hope emerges in the form of a manuscript from Clifford Anderson, an eager protégé from Sidney's writing seminar. The play, "Deathtrap", a two-act thriller, meticulously crafted and teeming with suspense, appears so flawless that, in Sidney's own words, "Even a gifted director couldn't mar its brilliance." His once renowned status in Broadway now a fading memory, Sidney, fuelled by his cunning mind and driven by a desperate longing for glory, concocts an unthinkable scheme with Myra: They will entice the unsuspecting Clifford to their secluded abode, silence him forever, and brand the guaranteed hit as Sidney's own masterpiece. However, when Clifford steps into the Bruhl residence, it becomes apparent that reality is far more complex than it appears. Even the prying psychic from next door, Helga Ten Dorp, and Porter Milgram, Sidney's keen-eyed attorney, find themselves ensnared in a labyrinth of truth and deceit, left to question where reality ends and illusion begins.
