Days of Being Wild (1990)

Bathed in the soft hues of the 1960s, "Days of Being Wild" unravels the entangled life of Yuddy, a charismatic youth with a boyish charm. The ground beneath him quakes when the woman who raised him, an inebriated ex-prostitute, reveals that she is not his biological mother and withholds the identity of the woman who is. This revelation sends Yuddy spiraling through a whirlpool of emotions, rocking his very existence. In Yuddy's equivocal journey, two women cross paths with him - the demure Su Lizhen, a worker at a sports arena, and the dazzling Mimi, a showgirl. Both women find themselves irresistibly drawn to Yuddy. However, haunted by his unresolved maternal issues, Yuddy remains a passive bystander in the emotional tug of war between Lizhen and Mimi, neither capable nor willing to choose between them. As Lizhen pours out her heart to Tide, a policeman, he finds himself falling for her. In a parallel narrative, Yuddy's friend Zeb is ensnared by Mimi's allure. Eventually, Yuddy discovers the location of his birth mother and embarks on a journey to the Philippines, leaving a trail of broken hearts in his wake. "Days of Being Wild" is a mesmerising tale of love, loss, and identity, where the characters are as wild and unpredictable as the days they live in.
