Plot

In the intricate tapestry of 19th-century Parisian society, Cousin Bette emerges as a solitary seamstress, shrouded in a veil of poverty and isolation. Her world crumbles further with the demise of her affluent and esteemed sister, propelling her towards the opulent universe of her brother-in-law, Baron Hulot, and niece, Hortense Hulot. Yet, her attempts to weave herself into their lives unravel, driving her into the comforting arms of a charming, starving sculptor she rescues from oblivion. However, the budding artist soon succumbs to the allure of another woman, Hortense, leaving Bette ensnared in the prickly threads of spinsterhood and bitterness. Fueled by her thwarted desires and a thirst for revenge against the family who rejected and robbed her of her sole love, Bette aligns with the renowned courtesan, Jenny Cadine. Together, they concoct a slow-burning scheme to dismantle the lives of those who have slighted her, crafting a compelling tale of vengeance and passion.
