Plot

Caius Martius, an acclaimed Roman military leader, is as renowned for his bravery on the battlefield as he is infamous among the plebeians. The common people of Rome view his hauteur as a reflection of the patrician elite, whom they blame for a biting food shortage. Despite their resentment, Martius harbors an equal disdain for the plebeians, branding them as cowardly and unreliable. Upon his triumphant feat of overcoming the Volsces, Rome's archenemies, and seizing the Volscian stronghold of Corioles, Martius is gloriously christened 'Coriolanus'. His friends and his indomitable mother coax him to vie for the consulship, Rome's most prestigious public office. Yet, the heart of this warrior beats for the battlefield, not the political arena. His unfamiliarity with political warfare renders him vulnerable to new adversaries - Sicinius Velutus and Junius Brutus, two people's tribunes. They stoke the fires of populism against him, constructing a cataclysm that Coriolanus, the fearless military titan, never saw coming. Engulfed by a storm of his own making, Coriolanus must navigate a battlefield far more treacherous than any he has faced before – the volatile arena of public sentiment.
