Plot

Under the grey skies of 1990s London, a balding, hard-drinking chameleon with an inconsistent American twang thrusts himself into the vibrant social tapestry of pubs and gatherings. He introduces himself as the one and only Stanley Kubrick, a legendary filmmaker. Magically, drinks start pouring and meals appear, all on the house or graciously covered by an enchanted admirer, typically a man, whose talents or passions have caught Stanley's feigned interest. However, beneath the beguiling veneer, he is no Stanley Kubrick but Alan Conway, a man with minimal knowledge of the film industry. Despite bearing no physical resemblance to the iconic director and knowing very little about his work, Conway artfully crafts his duplicitous persona, feeding off the dreams and aspirations of his unsuspecting victims. The price of their dreams? Merely the cost of their drinks and meals. As Conway weaves his intricate web of deception during the production of Kubrick's final masterpiece, Eyes Wide Shut, a haunting question looms. Will this audacious imposter be unmasked? Will the law catch up to him, dragging him into the harsh light of prosecution and prison? Or does fate, perhaps the National Health, have a different script written for Conway's life? Colour Me Kubrick is a riveting true story of audacious deceit and the intoxicating allure of fame, where reality blurs into illusion and nothing is quite as it seems.
