Syriana (2005)

Four seemingly unrelated stories meticulously intersect in the greater context of corruption in the oil industry. The CIA is trying to juggle the issue of a missing missile in Iran with the challenge of an American oil company losing a contract to China. The chain of events that follows leads the CIA to expect international bribery, but the consequences will ripple outward in devastating ways. From poor Pakistani workers forced out of their jobs and pushed towards radicalization to the delicate political maneuverings of a royal family, all of the consequences can be traced right back to the source of the oil.
