Plot

On the longest day of the year, from 5 to 7 pm, we journey through the bustling streets of Paris, closely following the footsteps of a young and famed singer, Florence Victoire, known better by her stage name, Cléo Victoire. With three hit singles under her belt, Cléo has tasted the sweetness of renown. But now, two days after undergoing medical tests for abdominal issues, she finds herself on the precipice of a potentially life-altering diagnosis. Convinced that she's facing terminal cancer, the vibrant city around her transforms into a ticking clock, each passing moment drawing her closer to the anticipated results at 6:30 pm. Her day unwinds like a surreal symphony of encounters and observations. From the lyrics of new songs, whispered sweet nothings from her lover José, to overheard café conversations, everything takes on a profound, sometimes unsettling, meaning. Yet, amidst the chaos of her mind, certain distractions momentarily lift the weight of her predicament, until an inevitable reminder drags her back into the reality of her looming diagnosis. As the day reaches its twilight, just when she's prepared to confront her fate, an unexpected encounter with Antoine, a French soldier at the tail end of his leave from the Algerian War, might offer her a fresh perspective. This chance meeting, on the edge of what she perceives as her own precipice and his imminent return to war, may hold the key to reassessing not only her day, but her entire life. "Cléo from 5 to 7" is a remarkable exploration of human fears and resilience, a two-hour voyage through the heart of Paris and the soul of a woman on the brink of a potential life-altering revelation.
