Plot

Enveloped in a shroud of despair after the demise of her son, Jungjoo finds herself spiraling down a toxic abyss of alcohol and nicotine. She seeks solace in the hallowed halls of a church, fervently praying for a respite that eludes her. One day, she stumbles upon Mingoo, a pariah with a past marred by crime, his existence reduced to dirty clothes and a plastic bag of possessions. Mingoo's appearance rattles Jungjoo's memory, awakening echoes of an incident buried twelve years deep in her past. 'Clean Up' paints a poignant portrait of a woman grappling with a past she yearns to erase. In a fit of desperation, she had once kidnapped a child, only to confront the same child a dozen years later. The child, now a forsaken and impoverished young man, finds comfort in Jungjoo's presence, oblivious of their shared history. 'Clean Up' is a testament to redemption and forgiveness, exploring the duo's struggle to quell their inner demons of guilt, bitterness and rage. Instead of hurtling towards an abrupt resolution, the narrative gently meanders towards a glimmer of hope, a potential balm for their tormented souls. Will they succeed in cleansing their lives of past transgressions, or will the stains of their actions prove indelible? Embark on this journey of self-discovery and healing, where salvation might just lie in confronting the past.
