Answering a plea from his old friend, Dr. Charlie Venco, Seattle journalist Steve Roberts finds himself plunged into the chilling depths of a Bulgarian conspiracy. He's lured by a tale of groundbreaking scientific discovery, only to be ensnared in a deadly web of disappearance, deception, and death, beginning with the mysterious demise of Dr. Venco himself. A funeral procession introduces him to the enigmatic and captivating Alexa Campos, a close associate of the late doctor. An attempted romance between the pair is thwarted by persistent local goons and austere military police, all seemingly hunting the intrepid Roberts.
