Wasabi (2001)

Hubert's entire life is his job, and his job is being a cop. It's a lifestyle that means Hubert isn't afraid to break the rules, and so his boss forces him to take two months off. Hubert initially visits Japan for the funeral of an ex-lover, but he discovers that he has a teenage daughter he left behind there as well. He can't help but become involved when he learns that she's in danger from the Yakuza. Hubert will need to protect them both, but he'll also need to learn why his former lover earned the ire of them in the first place.
