As the festive season draws near, Lucy Toomey (Ali), a hardworking and ambitious attorney at a prestigious New York law firm, stands on the brink of a much-coveted partnership. Yet, an unexpected storm of sorrow sweeps through her life when news of her special needs sister Alice's sudden demise reaches her. Leaving behind her bustling life, Lucy reluctantly returns to her quaint hometown of Nilson's Bay, Wis., to pay her last respects and settle Alice's affairs. Lucy's homecoming is tinged with regret as the missed opportunity of Alice's last phone call haunts her.
