As the scent of Christmas fills the air, Jessica Cooper, a talented archivist and historian, finds herself embarking on a riveting journey through time. Tasked by the meticulous Amanda Clark to curate a display that encapsulates the rich history of Christmas at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, Jessica confronts her fear of the unknown future. This fear stems from an unsettled childhood, and it’s what keeps her anchored to the past, oblivious of what the future may hold for her relationship with her boyfriend, Dennis Park, a clinical biology Ph.D. candidate. Jessica's daunting task is magnified by the disarray of the hotel's records and a stringent three-week deadline. With the possibility of quitting looming over her, she is paired with Nick Perrelli, the owner of a Christmas decorating firm, contracted to adorn the Plaza with festive cheer. Unlike Jessica, Nick is a forward-thinking individual, who refuses to be shackled by his past, epitomized by his past relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Alicia. As they delve deeper into the project, Jessica discovers a fascinating "hook" that convinces her that the display can indeed be completed within the deadline. However, the discovery of a historical inconsistency, a secret jealously guarded by the hotel's chief bellman, Reginald Brookwater, threatens to derail their efforts. This anomaly is something Amanda would not tolerate, even if it truly exists in the hotel's history. The unfolding events force Jessica to grapple with the concept of future, spurring her to question her own plans.
