In the bleak world of 2017, where technology reigns supreme and relationships are reduced to mere commodities, dwells Sam Treadwell, a successful businessman in this cold, mechanized society. His life takes an unexpected turn when his animatronic wife, the programmable perfection that is Cherry 2000, malfunctions. In a desperate bid to restore the synthetic symbol of his affections, Treadwell engages the services of the fierce and captivating renegade tracker, E. Johnson (Melanie Griffith). Their quest takes them across the arid expanses of an apocalyptic wasteland, a dangerous journey into the treacherous heart of Zone 7.
