In the humble town of India, Charandas, a man of limited means, shares his existence with his elder brother, Bhajandas, and sister-in-law. Struggling with unemployment, Charandas pledges his life to the wrestling ring under the tutelage of Ustad Mastram Pahelwan, promising to renounce marriage until he reaches 40. However, fate weaves a different tale when Charandas crosses paths with Chameli, a school-going girl, born to a low-caste coal merchant, Kallumal.
