Plot

In the desolate year of 2270, Earth is but a barren shell, forsaken by humanity. The privileged few have found refuge on Rhea, while the majority eke out an existence in orbiting space stations. Amidst this bleak backdrop, Dr. Laura Portmann seeks to join her sister Arianne on Rhea, and in pursuit of her goal, secures a job aboard the cargo ship Kassandra. This is no ordinary journey, but an eight-year voyage to Station 42, spiraling around the distant RH278. Laura shares this astronomical odyssey with an eclectic crew, including the stern Captain Pierre Lacroix, First Officer Anna Lindbergh, Communication Officer Miyuki Yoshida, and the enigmatic duo, Igor Prokoff and Claudio Vespucci. The formidable Sky Marshall Samuel Decker completes the team, his presence a chilling reminder of the lurking threat from the Luddites—a terrorist group known for their violent bombings. The Kassandra is a ship of secrets. Lacroix's regimented shifts plunge the crew into cryogenic sleep, with only one member conscious at a time. Yet, when Laura's solitary shift is disrupted by a mysterious stowaway, the crew is abruptly reanimated. As Captain Lacroix meets an untimely end, the crew is left grappling with unsettling anomalies. With Laura's messages to Arianne now taking a mere twenty minutes instead of the usual three years, doubt permeates the ship's cold metallic confines. The question that hangs like an icy specter is chilling: What is the true nature of the cargo Kassandra carries, and what is the ship's real destination? Join Dr. Laura Portmann as she navigates this labyrinth of uncertainty and deception, unraveling the mysteries of the cosmos while wrestling with her own personal demons. The journey of the Kassandra is not just a voyage through space, but a voyage into the heart of human resilience and the timeless quest for truth.
