Plot

In the heart of France during the 1950s, young Catherine (Marilou Lopes-Benites) takes delight in chilling the bones of her older sister, Marie-Anne (Lola Giovannetti), with the grisly tale of the infamous and frequently wedded Bluebeard. As she weaves the narrative, embellishing it with vividly gruesome details, the listener is transported back to 1697, where we meet the ominous Lord Bluebeard (Dominique Thomas) on the brink of taking his seventh wife, the youthful and innocent Marie-Catherine (Lola Créton). The freshness of Marie-Catherine's innocence adds an irresistible allure for Bluebeard, compelling him to delay her impending doom so he can relish in the dreadful delight of her looming end. But as fate spins a web of circumstances that continuously forestall his wife's execution, an unexpected bond begins to form between the pair. They gradually morph into something akin to a typical couple, with Marie-Catherine cleverly starting to shift the dynamics of their relationship. As the story unfolds, the terrifying tale of Bluebeard becomes a peculiar love story, a dance between predator and prey where roles are constantly in flux. The captivating narration of young Catherine brings this macabre story to life, creating a chilling yet captivating cinematic experience.
