Blood on the Highway (2008)

In the quaint, unassuming town of Fate, Texas, excitement buzzes in the air as the townsfolk gather for the grand opening of Consumart, a gleaming beacon of one-stop shopping convenience. As the doors swing open at sundown, the unsuspecting consumers pour in, their eyes filled with the glint of discounted plasma screens, baby clothes, DVDs, and even coffins, oblivious to the ominous shadow these peculiar items cast. Before they can question the eeriness, the store erupts into a horrifying bloodbath, transforming the once tranquil town into a breeding ground of bloodthirsty vampires. Several weeks later, three self-absorbed twenty-somethings - the hot-headed Carrie, her naive, hypochondriac boyfriend Sam, and the callous Bone, who harbors a lingering desire for Carrie - embark on a road trip to Mr. Fire, a bohemian festival with striking, if coincidental similarities to Burning Man. A detour, prompted by a map mishap, leads them straight into the jaws of Fate, a town they find alarmingly deserted. Their casual road trip takes a terrifying turn when they cross paths with two vampire-infested convenience store clerks, leading to a brutal encounter that leaves Sam bitten and Bone forced to play the hero. Slowly, they begin to grasp the horrifying reality of Fate's transformation. Their dwindling hope is rekindled when they stumble upon the town's last remaining humans - the trigger-happy conspiracy theorist Byron Von Jones, his haggard surviving wife Lynette, and the cowardly frat boy, Roy Jackson. Together, they hunker down in Roy's ranch house, their sanctuary soon besieged by a horde of dim-witted but deadly vampires. As the undead army plots to burn their haven before sunrise, the group must face their fears, question their alliances, and prepare for a battle they never imagined. Will they escape the gnashing jaws of death and transformation? Will Bone's unrequited feelings for Carrie find a receptive heart in the midst of chaos? And will the chilling connection between the monstrous takeover and the seemingly innocuous Consumart ever come to light? The fate of our heroes hangs in the balance in the eerie twilight of this transformed town, promising a thrilling ride that will leave your heart pounding and your blood curdling.
