Blood for Dracula (1974)

In the shadowy depths of Transylvania, Udo Kier portrays a hauntingly frail Count Dracula, arguably the most ailing vampire ever brought to life from Bram Stoker's iconic tale. Ravaged by sickness, Dracula is on the brink of a bloodless oblivion, for he requires the lifeblood of pure virgins to sustain his cursed existence. His faithful assistant, Mario Balato, suggests a daring gambit - a journey to the heart of Italy, a land renowned for its devoutly religious families and pure brides-to-be. Upon their arrival in a quaint Italian village, they stumble upon the impoverished Di Fiore family, which intriguingly boasts not one, but four virgin daughters - Esmeralda, Saphiria, Rubinia, and Perla. The desperate Marquee Di Fiore and his covetous wife, hoping for a lucrative match, welcome the foreigners into their manor, unknowing of Dracula's monstrous nature. However, the Count's quest for survival turns into a twisted game of deceit and discovery, as he realizes that the daughters may not possess the innocence they claim. One by one, Dracula finds that Saphiria and Rubinia have been compromised by the Marquee's handsome servant, Anton, who himself harbours Communist ideologies. As the sisters spend their nights in the company of the Count, Anton grows suspicious of their peculiar behaviour, hinting at Dracula's vampiric identity. With his life hanging in the balance, Dracula must unearth the true virgin among the daughters before he succumbs to starvation. Simultaneously, he must evade the prying eyes of Anton, who might just hold the wooden stake fatal to the Count. 'Blood for Dracula' thus becomes a thrilling race against time, merging horror and drama in a unique blend of cinematic storytelling.
