Plot

In the grim year of 1348, Europe is in the merciless grip of the Black Plague, its virulent shadow stretching across a war-scarred landscape. English and French armies clash in brutal conflict, with human life reduced to mere pawns in the ransom game. Amidst this chaos, the elegant English noblewoman, Matilda (Lena Heady), finds her world shattered when her aging husband is seized by French troops. As death and despair seep into every corner of their lives, Matilda's nephew, Nicholas, emerges from the battlefield bearing a prisoner of his own - the son of a formidable French lord. Matilda, with a glimmer of hope, attempts to arrange a prisoner exchange via the avaricious local Bishop. However, the deceptively tranquil village is thrown into turmoil when Nicholas is found dead, his body scarred with grotesque boils - an unmistakable signature of the relentless plague. But the terror doesn't end there. As the English authorities examine Nicholas's French captive, they stumble upon a chilling sight - ancient symbols scorched onto his back and an inverted cross etched into his chest. As the village succumbs to an escalating death toll, it becomes horrifyingly evident that the Black Death may not be the only malevolent force at work. The film "Black Plague" weaves a dark narrative of war, disease, and supernatural suspense, where the terrors of a pandemic may be dwarfed by an even more sinister threat lurking within their ranks. As the plot unravels, viewers are drawn into a tale of fear and desperation, where survival hinges on deciphering the true nature of the evil that has befallen them.
