Beyond the Sky (2007)

In the shadowy corners of their past, two brothers, Malboro and Cucu, find themselves estranged after an ambiguous incident propels Malboro to a five-year stint in prison. Upon his release, Malboro is drawn back to the life he once knew, eager to reconcile his past and regain his footing. Cucu, the younger brother, has since forged a path as a promising boxer, his potential only marred by the inner demon that surfaces in his most critical moments. Their enigmatic relationship is shrouded in the mystery of what caused Malboro's imprisonment. Completing their familial triangle is Uncle Jesus, their surrogate father and a retired boxer, whose mind often wanders back to the glory of his past. The brothers' lives are further complicated by Sara, Malboro's enduring love, a woman carrying the weight of regret and resentment. She almost gave up everything to elope with Malboro, only for their plans to be thwarted when he was apprehended by Rojas, her current husband and a police officer who harbors a deep animosity towards Malboro. On the pivotal morning our story unfolds, the brothers visit their mother, making a solemn promise that becomes the compass guiding their actions henceforth. Their journey is intertwined with the lives of others, some fortunate, others on the brink of disaster. Each interaction nudges them closer to a dawn where every character must reclaim their place in the urban cosmos, as the sun ascends, bringing with it a new day. Their fates are determined not just by their actions, but also by how they navigate the complex labyrinth of their relationships and past mistakes.
