In the heart-racing film, Better Start Running, the mundane life of a typical store clerk, Harley [Alex Sharp], takes an exhilarating turn when a twist of fate morphs him into a man on the lam. As if his life weren't spiralling enough, he finds himself in the company of his dream girl [Analeigh Tipton], and together they become the quintessential fugitives, chased relentlessly by the unyielding FBI Agent McFadden [Maria Bello] and her greenhorn partner [Karan Soni]. As the law enforcement duo hot on their heels is hell-bent on capturing them, dead or alive, our protagonist has grander plans. In a daring move, he abducts his Vietnam vet grandfather [Jeremy Irons] with a hope to reunite the old soldier with his long-lost love. Along the way, they pick up a hitchhiking beatnik [Edi Gathegi] with enigmatic secrets of his own, and with no regard for rationale, they follow a curious roadside attractions map with a veiled past. Each stop brings the agents closer, tightening the noose around this motley crew of misfits. But with every mile they cover, they evolve from mere runaways into an unlikely family. For in the game of life, sometimes it's not about the finish line, but the running start. And for Harley and his eclectic band, a running start just might be the better start they've been looking for.
