Beneath (2013)

In the heart of a close-knit coal mining community, Samantha "Sam" Marsh finds herself at the crossroads of tradition and ambition. Amidst the raucous laughter and clinking glasses of her father's retirement party, she faces a choice that will forever alter her life's trajectory. Determined to escape the dusty confines of her birthplace, Sam pursues environmental law, a stark contrast to the coal-streaked legacy of her father whose health is now compromised due to years of subterranean toil. Challenged by the grizzled miners, who perceive her existence to be nothing more than painting nails and surfing social media, Sam's spirit ignites. She resolves to descend into the belly of the beast, the coal mine, alongside her father and his comrades to prove her mettle. But fate, as unpredictable as the mine's yawning abyss, has other plans. A catastrophic collapse ensnares Sam, her father, and the mining crew 600 feet below the earth's surface. Trapped in this rocky tomb, they find themselves in a desperate race against dwindling oxygen and a creeping, toxic atmosphere that threatens to choke the life out of them. As hope fades, so does their sanity. The chilling legend of the "19" - miners buried alive in the 1920s - echoes in their minds, a grim reminder of their potential fate. Haunted by the specter of the past, and driven to the brink by their impending doom, the trapped miners begin to turn on each other, ensnared in a terrifying dance of madness.
