George Murray, an advertising man with a romantic soul, finds his world turned upside down when his girlfriend, Jane Gardner, editor of a free newspaper, reluctantly accepts his marriage proposal. Haunted by the specter of her disastrous first marriage to the philandering Doug, Jane soon calls off the engagement, leaving George reeling.
