Beauty in Trouble (2006)

In the heart of Prague, a devastating flood wreaks havoc on the lives of Marcela and Jarda, leaving their home damaged and their lives in disarray. Jarda's insensitivity to their son's asthma exacerbates the tension, pushing Marcela to the brink of divorce. Seeking refuge, she escapes with their children to her mother's home, a claustrophobic nest controlled by her overbearing mother and her distasteful husband. Meanwhile, Jarda, a mechanic with a penchant for illegality, transforms his garage into a chop shop, landing him in jail when he's caught with a stolen car. The car's sophisticated owner, Benes, unexpectedly extends a hand of friendship to Marcela, opening new doors for her. Caught in a tug-of-war between her mother, Jarda's mother, and her own conflicting emotions, Marcela finds herself at a crossroads. Jarda's raw magnetism pulls her one way, while Benes's promise of stability tempts her in another direction. Amidst the freedom of post-Cold War Czech Republic, Marcela must navigate these turbulent waters, deciding what's truly best for her and her family.
