Plot

After the heartbreaking demise of Mio, her husband Takumi and their 6-year-old son Yuji grapple with the harsh reality of life alone. Takumi, plagued by sporadic fainting spells and a chaotic lifestyle, harbors guilt for possibly diminishing Mio's joy. Meanwhile, Yuji, having overheard family speculation, carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, blaming his birth for his mother's untimely death. Before her departure, Mio leaves behind an enchanting picture book, telling a tale of her journey to "The Archive Star," promising to return in the subsequent rainy season. Clinging onto hope, the father-son duo eagerly anticipate her prophesied return. On a misty day in the woodland near their home, they encounter a woman seeking shelter from the rain. Despite her amnesia and identity crisis, they immediately recognize and welcome her as Mio. As they reintegrate her into their lives, Mio inquires about her past, prompting Takumi to reminisce about their love story. He paints a picture of countless missed opportunities that began in high school, leading up to a marriage encouraged by Mio years later. As the rain starts to recede, Yuji uncovers a "time capsule" he had buried with Mio, containing her diary. This heartfelt journal unfolds another chapter of their romance, holding the key to unravel the captivating mystery surrounding her return.
