In the heart of the blistering Everglades, five young men hardened by the unforgiving world of crime are thrust into an unconventional resocialization program. J.L., a mute, fashion-forward youth, haunted by the murder of his abusive father, Ruben, a fiery Latino gang member, Moss, an African American rival gang leader, Dorcey, a semi-literate car thief on the run, and Carlos, a Cuban refugee turned suave drug dealer, find themselves under the stern tutelage of Vietnam War hero, "Indian Joe" Tegra.
