In the shadowy corners of the city, Charles Engle, an embezzler on the brink of despair, pens a suicide note before plunging into the nocturnal labyrinth of urban life. His path crosses with Bill O'Brien, a savvy yet small-time hustler, who perceives Engle's generous tips as a sign of wealth, and hatches a plan to ensnare him in a high-stakes card game with the intent to strip him of his presumed riches.
O'Brien pulls in the enchanting Nina Barone, a glamorous accomplice more drawn to the hustler than his elaborate cons. As this intricate plot unfolds, the suicide note falls into the hands of Gene Gibbons, a perpetually inebriated playwright struggling with his fading success. Touched by Engle's plight, Gibbons concocts a daring scheme, roping in the reluctant O'Brien, to rescue Engle from the precipice of despair.
Their mission? To obtain the funds needed to repay Engle's employer, thus saving his life. Amid the swirling mists of deception, desperation, and unexpected alliances, the characters of "Angels Over Broadway" struggle for redemption and survival in a city that sleeps for no one.
