Plot
In the 1939 movie, "An Hour for Lunch," we follow Robert Benchley on a lively midday escapade crammed with more than just a bite to eat. Our protagonist, faced with a ticking clock, endeavors to check off a series of errands on his lunch hour. His journey begins with a much-needed visit to the barbershop, only to find his preferred barber entangled in another customer's locks.
Next up, Benchley attempts to correct a wardrobe malfunction by returning an ill-fitted shirt to the department store. However, this mission is thwarted when he realizes the offending garment has been left behind in his office. Not one to dwell on missteps, he pivots to the more pressing matter of lunch itself. He slides onto a stool at a bustling drugstore counter, but an eager patron breathing down his neck sends his appetite fleeing before he can finish his meal.
The whirlwind adventure concludes back at the sanctuary of his office, only for Benchley to discover that his half-eaten lunch has served him a hearty dose of indigestion. "An Hour for Lunch" is a delightful romp through the trials and tribulations of a lunch hour that promises more than just a meal.
