In the opulent world of the O'Brien family, Mrs. O'Brien relishes their wealth and social stature, with grand ambitions of integrating into the elite circles of high society. In stark contrast, her husband and their vivacious daughter find joy in the carefree, simpler pleasures of life, far removed from the ostentatious display of riches.
Driven by her aspirations, Mrs. O'Brien orchestrates a lavish weekend fox hunt, a masterstroke planned to solidify her place among the upper echelons. Central to this plan is the attendance of Lord Abernathy, a distinguished outdoorsman and a guest at the prestigious Ritz-Waldorf Hotel. Mrs. O'Brien entrusts this task to her social pilot, unaware that the woman and her sly accomplice have sinister ulterior motives.
When the task of securing Lord Abernathy's attendance proves daunting, the devious duo resorts to a cunning deception. They enlist the services of O'Reilly, a Ritz-Waldorf bellboy with an uncanny knack for impersonating the wealthy. Donning the garb of the rich and famous, O'Reilly is persuaded to become Lord Abernathy for the weekend, under the pretense of a harmless ruse.
As the weekend unfolds, O'Reilly dazzles the gathering with his flamboyant tales of outdoor adventures, proving a convincing Lord Abernathy. However, the true test lies in the actual hunt. Little does O'Reilly know, the real game afoot is the planned swindling of the O'Briens' riches by the scheming accomplices, a plot that includes the accomplice's marriage to the unsuspecting daughter.
Yet, as O'Reilly grows fond of the daughter, he finds himself entangled in a web of deceit, impersonation, and burgeoning romance. His role in the grand scheme takes on a new dimension, making this weekend fox hunt a thrilling adventure that goes far beyond the chase of a simple fox.
