Disenchanted professional Sandra Thomas embarks on a journey across a desolate desert town to pick up her underachieving sister, Alice, before they journey together to visit their ailing mother. Along the way, she encounters Jake Nyman, a criminal psychiatrist on an unconventional vacation, where every move, every choice is governed by the flip of a coin. In the midst of his whimsical journey, Jake's path collides with Sandra's, following a unnerving encounter with a mysterious assailant that forces her off the road.
