In the heart of the Mayan Riviera, enveloped in the lush embrace of the XCaret resort, the Hernandez family embarks on a long overdue vacation, their first shared experience in an entire decade. Gonzalo Hernandez, the Mexican patriarch, makes his home in Santiago with his disillusioned Chilean wife Carmen and their children - Macarena, a newly divorced lesbian; Camila, a perpetual dreamer lost in clouds of smoke; and Andres, the socially awkward virgin. The tranquillity of their idyllic getaway is shattered when Gonzalo receives devastating medical news - he's terminally ill.
