Alice (2022)

Caught in the unforgiving clutches of slavery on a secluded Georgia plantation, Alice (Keke Palmer) yearns for the liberty she's been denied under the sadistic rule of Paul (Jonny Lee Miller), the plantation's disturbed master. A violent confrontation propels her into the dense neighboring woods, where she stumbles upon a bewildering sight — a highway. As bewildering revelations unfold, she discovers that she has been flung into the year 1973. Rescued from the harsh roadside by Frank (Common), a jaded political activist, Alice begins to unravel the web of deceit that held her captive and starts to see the glimmer of Black liberation on the horizon. Drawing inspiration from actual events, Alice charts a gripping journey of empowerment as she navigates the tumultuous landscape of the post-Civil Rights Era in the American South. This is the poignant tale of a woman confronting the lies of her past to seize the freedom promised by her future.
