Air Bud (1997)

In the heartwarming tale of Air Bud, a young boy named Josh Framm finds solace and companionship in an unexpected place following his father's tragic passing. Uprooted from his familiar surroundings, Josh moves to the quaint town of Fernfield, Washington, with his family. The 12-year-old, burdened by shyness, finds it difficult to fit in, not daring to join the school basketball team despite his love for the sport. Instead, Josh finds solace in a deserted basketball court, his sanctuary where he can perfect his game in solitude. This isolated haven, however, soon welcomes a new member - a stray golden retriever named Buddy. A unique bond blossoms between boy and dog, based on their shared passion for basketball. It turns out, Buddy isn't just a fan of the game, he’s a virtuoso, astonishing Josh with his extraordinary talent. Josh's confidence grows, and he finally earns a spot on the school basketball team, with Buddy crowned as the Team Mascot. The duo quickly become the highlight of halftime shows, their synchronised performances capturing hearts and drawing media attention. However, this newfound fame does not come without its challenges. Norm Snively, Buddy's cruel former owner, surfaces with a malevolent plan to exploit the canine's celebrity status.
