Plot

"Home Team" is a heartfelt narrative that follows the compelling journey of Super Bowl-winning coach Sean Payton. After experiencing the pinnacle of success, Payton's world turns upside down when he's suspended due to his involvement in the infamous Bountygate scandal of 2012. With bounties allegedly being offered to players who could incapacitate their rivals, Payton finds himself at the center of a storm, banished from the professional realm he so dearly loved. Cast out from the spotlight, he returns to his hometown, a place where the echoes of his past await him. Here, he discovers an unexpected path to redemption, reconnecting with his 12-year-old son by taking the helm of his Pop Warner football team. In the heartland of grassroots football, Payton trades his lavish Super Bowl victories for the triumphs and defeats of sixth-grade football. "Home Team" is a poignant tale of second chances, exploring the iconic coach's year of exile and his touching journey of self-discovery. As Payton navigates the world of peewee football, he learns valuable lessons about life, fatherhood, and the true spirit of the game. His foray into this uncharted territory serves to reignite not only his passion for football but also his bond with his son, providing a silver lining to the cloud of scandal that had once threatened to overshadow his career.
