Plot

In the twilight of their high school years, Mark Vincent and James Tresswick are bound together by a shared and brutal history, marked by the bullying and abuse of the savage Gary Parker. Their youthful lives have been marred by this tormentor, but the pair are ready to break free from their victim status. They have a plan; a plan to eliminate Gary Parker from their lives forever. Their path to reclamation leads them to the eerie isolation of a local forest, a place shrouded in whispered rumors of a missing girl's disappearance. It is here that Mark, during a solitary exploration, stumbles upon a man suspiciously filling in a trench. The sight is both alarming and intriguing, a mystery that beckons them back with shovels to unearth its secrets. What they had expected to find were remnants of discarded garbage or a deceased pet. Instead, they unearth a grisly spectacle - the pale, lifeless body of a Canadian tourist. Suddenly, the boys, along with their friend Chasley Keys, find themselves entangled in a sinister web spun by a suburban serial killer, Ian Wright. Wright is an ordinary man, with the same house, wife, and child as anyone else. The ordinariness is anticlimactic, almost disappointing, but the danger is undeniably real. In the sanctuary of Chasley's bedroom, as they tend to the latest of Mark's injuries inflicted by Gary Parker, James proposes a dangerous idea. They hold the power over the killer now, don't they? Why not use him to execute their plan against Gary? The proposition teeters on the edge of madness, but the allure of revenge is too tempting. Chasley, who often lets James guide her decisions, goes along with it, and Mark agrees too, driven by his secret affection for Chasley and a hidden guilt that gnaws at him. Their plan, however, spirals into chaos as they underestimate the cunning and viciousness of their newfound 'acolyte', Ian Wright. The trio, Mark, James and Chasley, are hurled into a whirlpool of violence and manipulation, crossing a line of no return. They are forced to confront the darkness within themselves, as they dance dangerously close to the flame of a man who kills for pleasure.
