Yet, money, an element Dobie severely lacks and doubts he will ever accumulate in quantities satisfying to Thalia, remains a constant obstacle. Amidst his romantic escapades, Dobie finds solace in his best friend, Maynard G. Krebs. Krebs, a lovable beatnik with an undying love for jazz and a heart bursting with loyalty, often mirrors Dobie's actions, adding a touch of hilarity and frustration to Dobie's life. However, while Dobie chases dreams of love, one girl remains a constant in his life, the super-intelligent Zelda Gilroy.
