The King of Comedy (1982)

This is the story of a man who wants to be a famous comedian at any cost. He becomes fixated on a talk-show host hoping to appear on his show and become rich and famous. The film moves back and forth between the would-be comedian’s imagination and reality. He is given the run-around by the bored host and finally takes things into his own hands by kidnapping the host. He thinks it will get him what he wants. He has to go to prison for this, but he gets out early and finds out the life he has always wanted is just beginning, or is it his imagination?
