Plot

In the heart of an infertility struggle, Dr. Kim Do-il and his father persuade his artistically-inclined wife, Choi Mi-sook, to embrace the idea of adoption. At an orphanage, Mi-sook's heart is captured by six-year-old Kim Jin-sung, a gentle soul who finds solace in sketching trees. As Jin-sung integrates into their lives, he forms a tender bond with their eight-year-old neighbor, Min-jee, and a deep fascination with an ancient Acacia tree that stands majestically in their yard. However, life takes an unexpected turn as Mi-sook finds herself miraculously pregnant. Pressurized by her mother, she contemplates returning Jin-sung to the orphanage, triggering a slow but painful process of distancing herself from him. The birth of her biological child only amplifies this alienation, pushing Jin-sung further into solitude, where he seeks comfort from the Acacia tree, considering it his true maternal figure. One stormy night, Jin-sung mysteriously disappears, plunging his adoptive family into a whirlpool of insanity. As the ensuing days unfold, a chilling secret about Jin-sung surfaces, casting a shadow over what once seemed a picture-perfect family.
