Plot

Renowned painter and World War II hero, Trevor Stevenson (Ralph Meeker), embarks on a blissful journey of marriage with his love, Stella (Janice Rule). Six months into their union, their idyllic dream takes a sinister turn during their honeymoon in the vibrant city of Acapulco. A local cantina waitress is found murdered, and Trevor, plagued by unexplained lapses in memory and residual mental turmoil from the war, becomes a prime suspect. Stella, intoxicated by her romantic dreams now turned into a waking nightmare, fiercely defends her husband against the suspicions of Police Captain Henrique Montros (Paul Henreid), a stern lawman with familial ties to their hostess, Senora Reidl (Fanny Schiller). As the sordid underbelly of Acapulco unfolds, Stella's faith in her husband is tested further when Maria (Rosenda Monteros), their maid, uncovers incriminating sketches of the deceased waitress, apparently drawn by Trevor on the night of the murder. The discovery sends shockwaves through Stella's fervent defense, sowing seeds of doubt about Trevor's innocence and his inexplicable bouts of amnesia. In this psychological thriller, Stella's unwavering devotion to her husband is put to the ultimate test as she navigates a perilous web of accusations, deceit, and a haunting possibility that her beloved husband might indeed be a killer. As the mystery unravels, the truth becomes as elusive as Trevor's missing memories, painting a gripping portrait of a woman's devotion pushed to its limits.
