Plot

In the murky underbelly of bail bond brokering, former cop Vince Kane is bound by the shackles of his past, working alongside Joe Farley while maintaining his deep-rooted connections with his police comrades, particularly Detective Nick Ferrone. When Ferrone snags Claude Brackette, a mere brokerage clerk, into the whirlwind of a securities theft case that tragically claimed a cop's life, Kane is drawn into the investigation. The ties of old love pull him deeper as he discovers that Brackette's wife, Lucy, is an echo of his past romance. Lucy's unwavering faith in her husband's innocence triggers Kane's dormant sense of justice. Her plea for bail is backed by a meagre $4,000, a drop in the ocean compared to the required $25,000. A shadowy figure steps in, contributing $12,000, and against Farley's caution, Kane stakes the rest from the company's funds, securing Brackette's release. But freedom proves short-lived when Brackette meets a grim end. Kane, driven by Lucy's despair, plunges into the labyrinthine world of crime. The clues lead him to Jerry McKay, a notorious nightclub owner, and Roy Collins, a hardened thug. Kane's suspicion that McKay is the puppet master of the robbery propels him into a dangerous game. Mimicking the crooks he hopes to corner, he threatens McKay with his silence, demanding a hefty bribe. Farley condemns this risky strategy, only to find himself in Kane's crosshairs - forced to pay up or risk being smeared as a collaborator in crime. Thus unfolds a thrilling tale of loyalty, love, and the blurred lines between law and crime in "A Dangerous Profession."
