In the pulsating heart of Berlin, 2011, we meet Ludwig Licht, a former Stasi double agent. Post the Berlin Wall's fall, he's transformed into a rogue troubleshooter, his bar in Kreuzberg serving as both his refuge and his main source of income. Suddenly, an old CIA acquaintance reenters his life, tempting him with one last adventure. The mission: unravel the mysteries surrounding Hydraleaks, a whistle-blowing powerhouse whose enigmatic leader, Lucien Gell, has vanished without a trace. A Hydraleaks member is on the lam, following the chilling assassination of three of her comrades in the winding alleys of Morocco. The situation escalates as Licht's former ally, Clive Barner, now the formidable chief of the CIA's Berlin office, senses the case's potential international ramifications. Licht, buried under debt to the merciless gangster Pavel to keep his bar afloat, sees a glimmer of hope in this chaos. He seizes the opportunity as his ticket to freedom, immersing himself in a world of secrets, lies, and danger. As the stakes pile high, the boundaries between friend and foe blur, and the city's underbelly reveals its true face, Licht must navigate this tumultuous terrain, where every decision could be his last.
