Unorthodox (2020)

Etsy is a 19-year-old Jewish woman who belongs to the ultra-orthodox Satmar sect of the Williamsburg district of Brooklyn, New York. The extreme restrictions of the Hasidic lifestyle and a dismally unhappy marriage cause Etsy to flee her community and escape to Berlin, Germany. Etsy discovers later that she’s pregnant. In the meantime, her husband and a tough Jewish "fixer" are determined to track Etsy down and force her to return. While in Berlin, Etsy both marvels and struggles with her extraordinary new level of freedom as she makes interesting friends and pursues an exciting musical career and scholarship.
