Plot

In the heart of Louisiana's prison system, Maya Cobbina, a relentless and passionate lawyer, has spent two decades defending Rudy Jones, an innocent man condemned for a crime he didn't commit. On the eve of his execution, Rudy implores Maya with his parting words, "Go big", challenging her to dismantle the very system that sanctioned his unjust fate. Stirred by Rudy’s plea, Maya finds herself back in London, where she is unexpectedly poised to step into the influential role of the first black Director of Public Prosecutions. This new position holds the promise of unearthing the truth behind the death of her friend, Michael Antwi, a charismatic anti-racism advocate whose untimely demise still haunts Maya. Simultaneously, her devoted husband, Nick Johnson, finds his world teetering on the edge of chaos as a buried past threatens to disrupt the tranquil life he's built with his wife and children. Under the weight of their shared secrets and individual quests for justice, Maya and Nick navigate the crossroads of duty, truth, and love. How far will Nick journey into the shadows to safeguard his family? And will Maya's pursuit of justice ultimately lead her to the shocking truth about the man she's been married to for the past 20 years? Undercover (2016) is a riveting exploration of personal devotion and systemic injustice, where every truth uncovered could be the turning point that changes everything.
