Enter Maestro Franz von Stresemann, an unconventional conductor invited for a year, who ruffles feathers by assembling his unique orchestra from these overlooked "leftovers." Among these misfit musicians, a vivacious girl pianist of instinctual brilliance emerges, her life intertwining with a stern, accomplished pianist. He is the progeny of a globally acclaimed conductor but harbors a secret desire to command the orchestra himself.
