Morty is a timid and slow-witted child, but that makes him the perfect foil for ridiculous mad scientist Rick. Rick is Morty's uncle, and he sees in his young nephew the opportunity for a sidekick he can make do dangerous things without having to be held accountable. Morty's family doesn't always approve of Morty's adventures with Rick, but they undoubtedly expose Morty to corners of the universe that no one would ever want to see. Rick's wacky hijinks well send them hurtling through different dimensions, times, and planes of existence — but he always somehow manages to get them out alive.
