In the heart of the English countryside lies Grantleigh Manor, an ancestral estate whose long-standing matriarch, Audrey fforbes-Hamilton, is left reeling from her husband's death. The shock intensifies when she's forced to vacate the manor, the stone and mortar embodiment of her family's enduring legacy. The keys to the manor are unexpectedly handed over to Richard De Vere, the ambitious owner of a thriving supermarket chain and a stranger to the genteel customs of the manor life. In a bid to safeguard her heritage, Audrey relocates to The Old Lodge, a quaint dwelling on the periphery of the manor grounds, keeping a watchful eye on the new proprietor.
