The Sinner (2017)

Detective Harry Ambrose works in an ordinary town in upstate New York, but he always seems to find himself caught up in the wake of unusual death. Each season covers a different murder investigation being conducted by Ambrose, and all of them are tied to the notion that the crimes are committed by people who don't fit the traditional model for a suspect. While they might be caught red-handed, Ambrose needs to know what leads these people to commit horrendous acts of violence when they otherwise seem just like the people we see every day of our lives.
