In the heart of Stockholm, as Europe breathes a sigh of relief in May 1945, the Löwander family's antiquated restaurant stands as a testament to bygone eras. Yet, the dwindling number of diners threatens the restaurant's survival. Gustaf, the eldest Löwander offspring, leans towards the unconventional, plotting audacious plans to save their legacy while raising the suspicion of his brother Peter, a lurking menace in the shadows. On the other end of the spectrum, their innocent sister, Nina, encounters a stranger, and a single impulsive kiss sparks a ripple of unforeseen consequences. Simultaneously, Calle Svensson, in a bid to support his family, aspires to join the restaurant's kitchen crew, but his cantankerous boss proves to be a formidable obstacle. Elsewhere in the staff, Margareta, a waitress, battles her own demons as she vies for the custody of her young son. Her life becomes more complicated when a forbidden romance buds, endangering her precarious position. "The Restaurant" intricately weaves these captivating stories, painting a vivid portrait of life and love in the face of societal and personal challenges.
