Upon their arrival, the southern New Zealand farm that was to be their haven stands desolate. The absence of life, including the farm manager and the usual hum of living creatures, is unnerving. Yet, Jenny and Vicky, resilient and steadfast, roll up their sleeves, determined to carve out their home in this wilderness. A surprising ally emerges in Manfred, a young German who had been secretly residing in the stables, believing the farm abandoned. Despite his peculiar fear of horses, Manfred's inventive mind and helpful nature quickly make him an indispensable part of their makeshift family. As they begin to settle into their new life, a magnificent black stallion appears, allowing only Vicky to mount it. Jenny, reminded of her beloved horse in England, gives it the familiar name, Black Beauty. In the shadow of uncertainty and amidst the raw beauty of New Zealand, they discover hope, resilience, and the power of companionship, both human and equine.
